As nostalgic and quintessentially British as sweets get. A favourite of William Brown and his gang in the Just William Books and of the Fanous Five. Rock-hard long-lasting sweets with a "pip" in the centre (not bubblegum!) In America they're called Jawbreakers.
Each one is individually hand carved by Oompa-loompas. Actually that's not true - they're made by building up layer after layer of sugar.
An absolute classic for all lovers of British liqorice. Hard sticks of shiny black liquorice, shaped like an oar with the word "Bassetti" imprinted on the flat bit. Perfectly designed for dipping into a bag of Sherbet (or Kali if you're from north of Watford or even Keli if you're north of the border!)
