As tradtional and old fashioned a sweet as we can think of. Small hard shiny gobstopper-like sweets with the distinctive taste of, surprise, surprise, aniseed. Well you didn't think they'd taste of coconut did you? These are formed around a small seed - the "pip."
Anise, the herb which gives aniseed it's flavour, is said to keep away nightmares if placed under your pillow. We don't know if the same goes for Aniseed Balls though...but it's a dream of a sweet! Yes, I know, corny, but you try writing this stuff!
An absolute classic for all lovers of British liqorice. Hard sticks of shiny black liquorice, shaped like an oar with the word "Bassetti" imprinted on the flat bit. Perfectly designed for dipping into a bag of Sherbet (or Kali if you're from north of Watford or even Keli if you're north of the border!)
