About Cranch's Sweetshop...
Welcome to Cranch’s, the real old-fashioned online sweetshop.
In 1869, when Queen Victoria was still only halfway through her 63 year reign, a small sweetshop was opened in the picturesque seaside town of Salcombe in the beautiful South Hams of Devon. The boiled sweets and toffees they sold were made by hand in copper pans in a small back room. The shop was run by the Cranch family until Gladys Cranch, who lived above the shop, sold the business in 1970
We bought Cranch's in 1981 and opened a second sweetshop in nearby Totnes in 1990 and a greengrocer and general store in Salcombe in 2001. We are a true old-fashioned family business with 4 generations having worked in the shops.
For our customers Cranch's is something of a Salcombe institution. In fact some of them have even started a Facebook group called Cranch's Salcombe Appreciation Society!
For years our customers have been saying "We can't buy old fashioned sweets near us" so we decided to do something about it. So now at cranchs-sweetshop.co.uk you can have the Cranch's experience all year round!
For people new to Salcombe we heartily recommend a visit - it's one of the most beautiful places in Britain so prepare to fall in love with it and become a regular visitor! Plus you'll get see Devon's oldest sweetshop! Just click on the "Visit Us" link at the bottom of the page for more information
