Our sugar free sweets are mostly sweetened with natural sweeteners Maltitol and/or Isomalt. Some also contain the artficial sweetener Sucralose. They taste almost the same as their sugar based alternatives.
Why buy Sugar Free Sweets?
They contain fewer calories.
They do not contribute to tooth decay.
Many diabetics find they have a much lower effect on their blood sugar levels than ordinary sweets and chocolate.
They are also popular with people following Low Carb Diets as they have much lower Net Carbs than ordinary sweets.
Please be aware that the natural sweeteners in our sugar free range (known as Polyols) can have a laxative effect if eaten in excessive amounts. Each person may have a different tolerance level so we recommend you try a few at first and see how well you tolerate them. Young children are likely to have a lower tolerance to Polyols.
If you are a diabetic you should be aware that Sugar Free Sweets still contain some carbs and calories which need to be counted in your daily allowance. Please consult your doctor or Diabetic Nurse if you are unsure.
An absolute classic for all lovers of British liqorice. Hard sticks of shiny black liquorice, shaped like an oar with the word "Bassetti" imprinted on the flat bit. Perfectly designed for dipping into a bag of Sherbet (or Kali if you're from north of Watford or even Keli if you're north of the border!)
